Becky Sandford
Biography
Dr Becky Sandford has worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital as a consultant since 2016, with practice incorporating all aspects of vascular and endovascular surgery. Her particular interests are emergency and ambulatory non-elective care, having established the Emergency Vascular Clinic for urgent triage and treatment of vascular patients without the need for unnecessary hospital stays. She continues to enjoy research links with the team in Malawi in addition to projects based closer to home.
Becky undertook specialist vascular fellowships during her senior registrar training; the first at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham focussing on lower limb bypass, and focussing on all aspects of vascular and endovascular work
She graduated with honours from the University of Leicester Medical School in 2000. She went on to complete basic surgical training in Leicester before undertaking a period of research into the genetic basis of abdominal aortic aneurysms, resulting in the award of an MD degree. Her higher surgical training in both general and vascular surgery was also based largely in Leicester, but also included a period of time spent working as a volunteer surgeon in southern Malawi.
